The Devil Dog is back after a major engine overhaul and is scheduled to appear at the Central Texas Airshow April 30 – May 1.

This rare and historic aircraft commemorates Marine Corps Aviation in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The Devil Dog bears the signatures of many surviving members of the original VMB-612 squadron and is a living history museum. It is believed to be the sole surviving example of a hard-nosed, eight gun Marine Corps PBJ variant.

The Devil Dog Squadron members will be offering guided tours of the aircraft and unique photo opportunities for air show attendees on a first-come first-served basis for a small donation.

Based at Georgetown Airport, the Devil Dog is also available for special events, civic organizations and school group tours. For additional information contact the squadron at 512-869-1759.

The Airshow team has been busy arranging for an awesome schedule for this year's airshow.  We're thrilled to announce we've just signed Mike Gallaway to fly in this year's airshow!

Mike Gallaway began flying aerobatics 10 years ago, it was the fear of stalls that convinced Mike to take an aerobatics course. Since then, Mike has been a regular at the US National Aerobatic Championships ,having earned a place on three US Advanced teams and a silver medal in 2006.

Today, Mike flies about 12 air shows per year in his modified Pitts S1-T. His routine is classic Pitts style, with plenty of tumbles and snaps. He holds a surface waiver, so most of the action is close to the audience.

When Mike is not flying, you can see him on the announcer stand, in fact Mike has been the commentator for the Red Bull Air Race World Series since its' inception. He has literally been around the globe with Red Bull , having narrated in  8 races thus far.

Jan Collmer’s signature snap roll after take off will set the mood as he wows the crowd. During the air show routine Jan will put this incredible aircraft through its paces including loops, rolls, lomcevaks, torque rolls, knife edge passes and the crowd’s favorite: his famous tail slide. Jan climbs the airplane straight up until it stops. It then hangs by its propeller until the nose drops down into a screaming dive.

Living close to Love Field in Dallas as a child, Jan’s love for aviation evolved as he watched B-17’s, B-25’s, B-24’s, P-47’s and P-40’s flying in and out of the airport. A movie on Navy aviation captured his love in aviation in High School. He received his initiation into flying as a Navy NAVCAD in Pensacola in 1954 and earned his wings in NAS Corpus Christi.

Jan is a native of Dallas, Texas and is president and CEO of Collmer Semiconductor Inc., a $50 million-a-year high-tech electronics company that employs about 120 people. Mr. Collmer is also president of the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field, which he co-founded with Mr. Cooper and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

“Flying, I love everything about it and have as much fun flying today as I did on my first flight in 1954.”

Jan is a man with a great sense of humor and is a very gracious pilot who is only there because of his true love of aviation. He is a true mentor in the aviation world.

Here's a brief view of what you can expect from Jan's flying:
