All Volunteer meetings will be at 2pm at the Temple Airport main terminal building.  Bring a friend and join us - find out how much fun you can have volunteering with the airshow.

If you have questions - call our Volunteer Coordinator at 254-742-0399

If you love airplanes, aviation history, WW II, Vietnam reenactments, people and a lot of fun, come volunteer for the Central Texas Airshow. We need up to 300 voluteers airshow weekend to make the Central Texas Airshow a spectator spectacular.  Sign up on the left and we'll get you started!

These are just some of the available jobs at the AirShow

Please plan to report to volunteer check in which will be at the information booth about 30 minutes prior to the beginning of your shift. If you have already signed up for a shift, please check the schedule here and confirm that we have your correct information. If you would like to make a note of the date, time and location you have singed up for, we have reminder forms available to write on. Please check out at the end of your shift with Volunteer check in so that we know that your relief arrived at your location.

When you report for your shift you will be able to exchange the coupon provided for a volunteer t-shirt. We ask that you wear this shirt whenever you are working. This will help us identify you as a volunteer. There are restrooms available in the terminal building to allow you to put on your shirt before your shift begins. Parking for volunteers is in the overflow parking area. Depending on your shift and when you arrive, there may a lot of traffic trying to enter the airport we have made arrangement for you to enter through the back gate off of Hwy 36 between the main gate and the National guard. It will have a large Exit sign to discourage the public. Please bring your wristband with you or admittance. If you have not yet received your wristband, the volunteer gate will have your name and will admit you.

You will be provided with a wristband at the last volunteer meeting. This is required to gain entrance to the airshow. It is valid all days, so if you would like to come on days other than when you volunteer, please feel free to do so. What to wear? Dress comfortably for the weather, ex. shorts, short sleeve shirts, light jacket, etc. Remember to wear sunscreen and possibly a hat. Remember that you will need to change into your volunteer t-shirt when you arrive. You may put the volunteer shirt on over other clothing. Sunglasses are handy during the day.

You have a critical job to ensure the safety of the people attending the airshow. You will be positioned at various points along the flight line to restrict people from crossing the taxiway. Many times people, especially children don’t look where they are going or may try to cross the barriers set up for their safety. Your job is to advise them to stay on the correct side of the barrier.

Your job is to route transient aircraft to the designated parking area and to ensure that the occupants of the aircraft purchase tickets for the event or exit the event.

You must be at least 18 years old to drive the golf cart.

You are a critical resource to the airshow. In the event that a volunteer doesn’t show up for their shift, we will assign you to cover their assignment. If the volunteer later shows up, we will direct them to relieve you and you should return to volunteer check-in for reassignment. There are always a number of things that just crop up that we will require additional help. Your help and patience will be invaluable to the airshow.

You will be assigned to one of four gates. Your job is to maintain communications with the Command Post via a provided radio and to act as support for security to ensure that everyone entering has purchased a ticket and has a wrist band. Also, you are to ensure that the event rules are followed, specifically, no coolers are allowed within the event due to security concerns. People with coolers may take them back to their car and can exit and reenter as often as they want with their wristband. If you detect a security issue, please immediately notify the Command Post via radio. Please identify which gate you are at and what the nature of the problem is. Please be as specific as possible. The Command Post will advise you on what action to take and/or direct others to assist you. Please check in with the command post every hour.

You will be carrying water jugs and cups on a golf cart. The water jugs are to provide drinking water to event staff and volunteers. The public should purchase water from one of the food vendors. Each water cart will be provided with a radio so that we can advise you of a request for water. You should constantly drive your assigned route checking with volunteers to see if they need a drink. Please don’t just sit in one place as it is likely that there are thirsty volunteers waiting for you to come by. We will provide a route map when you check in for your shift. Please listen closely to your radio. If you have any questions about the radio, please ask the person in the Command Post who will be giving you the radio. Please return the radio to the Command Post at the end of your shift. It is important that you do this so that we can transfer responsibility for the radio to your relief volunteer. The Command Post will be located in the corner of this building.

You must be at least 18 years old to drive the golf cart.
